News out of Chicago, the Hawks ship Dustin Byfuglien, Ben Eager and Brent Sopel to Atlanta and the "Break up" has started already.
We are only just a few weeks removed from the parade down Michigan Avenue and already the joys of victory are quelled by the agony of loss.
The Blackhawks, desperate to clear cap space, are stuck in a tough spot. This is what everyone expected but the decision to trade away three hard working players is not something I am going to be happy about.
I don't understand how this trade involves these players and not the high priced Versteeg. Kris is a great player, don't get me wrong, but Chicago doesn't need the offensive production from Versteeg with guys like Toews, Kane, Sharp and Hossa.
They get rid of three bruisers, who work hard on the boards and are always working to make the big hit or in Byfuglien case the big goal.
I will miss "The Big Man's" presence in front of net and his Captain Morgan's goal celebrations...
I will miss Ben Eager's awesome blonde playoff beard and his hilarious hits
I will miss Brent Sopel throwing his body in front of countless shots.
It's a business and I understand that it is just sad to see them go. Congratulations on the amazing season... one I will never forget.
