Delaware Sweeps Grand Lake Winning Streak at 4

The Delaware Cows have won four games in a row and at the All-Star Break are on their longest win-streak of the season.

Sunday the Cows swept a doubleheader from the visiting Grand Lake Mariners 6-4, and 9-4. Game one was supposed to be the only game of the day but the Mariners and Cows were rained out in Celina Ohio on July 8.

The Cows jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, after four innings, against the Mariners and never looked back in their 9-4 game-two victory.

Chris Peters got the Cows offense started in the first inning with an RBI double to left field that scored Ben Jurevicius. Zach Frentsos added a sacrifice fly that scored Peters to make it 2-0.

In the third, Peters added another RBI with a ground out to the pitcher that scored Evan Shaw.

Mitch Sroka doubled in the fourth inning for Delaware, scored Josh Holskey from first base and scored a run on an Evan Shaw single to make it 5-0.

With runners on the corners in the fifth in a 5-1 ball game, Chris Peters took home on a double steal with Zack Frentsos. The Cows made it 7-1 on a Josh Holskey RBI single that scored Zach Frentsos.

The Mariners scored two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh but never really threatened for the lead.

Theron Minium improved his record to 2-0 making his first appearance back from injury. The Ohio State Buckeye pitched two innings gave up one run and blanked the Mariners.

In game one it was the Cows who fell behind early trailing the Mariners 3-0 after the first inning. But Delaware scored three in the second one in the third and two in the sixth to defeat the Mariners 6-4 in seven innings.

In the second the Cows took advantage of a pair defensive miscues and free passes to score three runs on only one hit.
